Practice of Prevention in Clinical Care
The UCLA Preventive Medicine Fellowship has a strong and close relationship with the VA West Los Angeles to provide clinical rotations as well as provide ample opportunities for projects on population health among the veteran community. Other partnerships with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and branches such as Emergency Preparedness offer practical experience in working with our current community.
During the course of the UCLA Preventive Medicine Fellowship, our physicians obtain their Masters in Public Health, increasing their scope of knowledge. Additional instruction on health behavior models and theories inform our physicians on practical approaches to population health interventions, advocacy, and policy. When coupled with clinical rotations in nationally recognized facilities and involvement in community interventions, our physicians become true community advocates with the competency and practical skill for preventing and treating community diseases.
